Bing Qi Ling

I scream
You scream
We scream for ice cream!

That is the flavour suggestion board where you can suggest flavours or vote for favourites. Some are way out weird like vegemite and bak kwa. I voted for creme brulee. Safe and boring. I suggested mangosteen because I love it. Since they have durian flavours, they should have mangosteen right. To balance the heatiness of the thorny fruit.

Movies

I never fail to check out the movie titles when I go pass this Yang Tze cinema. Always crack me up. They are now showing Nipples! HAHAHAHAHA! Tell me that doesn't crack you up. They still draw and paint those posters. So retro! Nobody else does that anymore. Not bad leh, every time I go pass, every time different titles. Is it true that only ah peks watch these films? Is it true that they bring in umbrellas? Is it true that the seats are not too clean? Is it true that you can spot those ah peks doing naughty stuff? I am so curious, I may just drag the Husband with me just once!

Actually, I have snuck into this cinema once. It was for Philadelphia. Before they started showing all these sleazy movies. That was way back when I was still underage. I have snuck into Lido a few of times too. Still remember the films - Birdcage, Shawshank Redemption and An Interview with a Vampire. I might have watched Adventures of Priscilla - Queen of the Desert too. I knew I watched it, can't remember if I was under 21 though.

I must had looked old for my age. Sigh.

I went with a friend and we were giggling like crazy when we got in. We told ourselves that we need to act and behave 'mature'. We dressed 'mature' too. (Since then, I am still trying to be a mature person.) It was hilarious. When we were in the cinema, we commented that, hey, how come adults don't eat popcorn one ha? They are so quiet before the movie hor, never talk one? We felt that we stuck out like sore thumbs, and half the time, expecting someone to point us out as underage viewers and that we would be thrown out by the ushers. Thankfully, that never happened. After that, the checking became more strict and I never tried until I was of the legal age.

Last Weekend

Konnyaku

I made these babies for a gathering with a bunch of secondary school mates. One of them came back from USA for the first time in over a decade. She has 2 kids, and I thought, why not make some jelly? These are easy to make, high in fiber and low in calories. I even omitted the colouring. Of course I didn't just bring the konnyaku, that will be a little too cheap wouldn't it? I bought bak kwa! Everyone loves bak kwa right?

Being the queen of excess, of course there was quite a bit left. There is a reason why I used lychees. The Husband loves lychees! I love lychees too. The floral taste is very refreshing, especially so in cold and crunchy konnyaku jellies!

Audrey is Coco

I can't wait! Makes me wanna pick up French.

Hot Tea is not cool

Hot tea kills!

There is a lot of talk about drinking too hot a drink and eating food that is way too hot. My mum does it and so did a lot of other people's parents and grandparents. Most seem to be pretty healthy. But still, I will warn my mum again and show her this article!

I found them!

Well, at least some of them....

March

is pretty eventful, didn't expect it to be!

April will be quiet. Hopefully, other than someone's birthday, I will have a lot of time to myself. I like that. I like to spend time with myself. I am my own best company, er next best next to the Husband's company of course. Got to write this down just in case he decides to read my blog.

Some friends cannot understand how I can spend my life at home and not working. This lifestyle is not suited for everyone I have to admit. Sometimes I do miss work, but not enough for me to make me go back working. I have stuff to do. Apart from chores, I read, I bake when I like it, I go for walks, plan for dinner, I can go out and photograph (that rarely happens) and I can do other nonsensical stuff that I am too embarrassed to write about it here. Sometimes I go out, just to walk in emptier malls, which is such a treat even if I am not buying anything. I can spend hours in Kinokuniya all by myself and walk down the aisles of big hypermakets. I always like supermarkets, never will you know what you can find. My siblings and I used to follow our mum to supermarkets when we were little. Yaohan and Cold Storage were the atas ones and we will go up and down every single aisle. When there is something that caught our fancy, we will just dump it into the cart. The joy! Yes, our mum spoils us like that.

Due to me taking it easy, most tickets to the Singapore Film Festival have been sold out. Apartly, I had too much on my hands to think about and to do, I totally forgot all about it. I am keen on the International shorts, that one still got tickets. What about Disengagement? Sounds intersting. Gulabi Talkies sold out already! Lonely Tunes Of Tehran sold out too! I think there are still tickets to Worlds Apart.

I have no time to bake my roulade!

Does anyone know where I can get orange flower water???? I used to see them in Jason's or Market place.... now, no more. Phoon Huat also no have. Argh.

Just a thought....

If we were to surprise Ken on his birthday outside his home, will he forever be angry with us for the rest of his lives????

But but, the thought of doing that just makes me giggle with excitement! Who cares if he is angry????????

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! We shall proceed with our evil plan!

Happiness...

is when The Husband says he wants to go to this year's Tokyo Motor Show!

To Honda - Domo arigato gozaimashita!

Because without you, there will be no new NSX, or even any NSX to speak of. With Honda revealing the new NSX this coming Tokyo Motor Show, The Husband now xin yang yang!

But hor, I think The Husband say only lah, with the rising yen and the gloomy recession cloud still hanging over us, I doubt it. But it is nice that he is as affected by Japan as I am.

We just saw Departures, the Japanese film about this man working as a casketer (embalmer). Sad and beautiful at the same time. It shows the funeral rituals, the cleansing, the preparation of the departed, all done in such grace, elegance and dignity that only the Japanese is capable of.
It stars that Gatsby guy, half the time, I expected him to go 'Gatsby! Gatsby!' It won the Best Foreign film award at this year's Oscars. Truly sublime.

Take a Walk with Me

Things that I see on my way to the train station,

Orchard Road

Now that Orchard Road has its facelift, with all the old tiles on the pavement gone, we shall never ever see any of these fruit 'tiles' lining the road anymore. I don't particularly miss them, but they are fun, in a cliche STB kinda way.

I saw this one, just outside the entrance of Orchard MRT and I could not resist not taking a picture. I have been telling the Husband, we should try to take a picture of each of the fruits that we can find, but alas, due to my procrastination, that never happened.

I wonder where my mangosteens, durians, chikus and rambutans went?
