Slowing down for Naps

The Little One has just turned 3 months!

I am finding it easier to cope as she gets older. Just a few weeks ago, I couldn't put her down for naps. She just couldn't settle down for a snooze. I couldn't get anything done and by the time The Husband came back, I was downright tired. My mum suggested having me lying down for a nap together with her. I tried it at my mum's and it worked! She slept for 2 hours! I felt good napping for those 2 hours too. I tried it at home after that, hoping that it was not just sheer luck (or exhaustion) that she slept for so long. I am happy to say that now she is napping more than she used to. Her naps last about an hour each, sometimes when I get lucky, half and hour more.
There was an evening when The Husband had a dinner to attend, leaving me and baby at home. She was an angel that evening, napping very well. I brewed some tea and got down to spending some time doing what I loved doing, spending some quality time with myself. I had to fight the urge to get chores done. It can be tough, with the pile of unironed clothes staring at you everytime I walked pass the TV room. It is tough when the toilets are screaming for a good scrubbing. The floor below my feet feeling not squeaky clean. That was the very first time that I had a nice quiet evening in 2 months.

Every nap time, I will lie next to her for about 10 to 15 minutes, patting her, hugging her when she naps. It is really nice to have a cat nap that way plus she seems to sleep longer when I lie next to her for a while. If I were to rush off and get some chores done instead of lying next to her, she will be up in 15 minutes, as if she is telling me "Slow down Mama, you need a break too, slow down."

I suppose all the chores can wait. Nothing is quite as sweet lying down next to your baby. Before I know it, she will be all grown up!
