Sakura, Sakura...
Did you noticed? There seem to be flowers everywhere in Singapore recently. Sometimes, we would drive past a road lined with trees in all its full bloom glory. I couldn't resist but to tell The Husband to look at the glorious glorious trees, although he really should be keeping his eyes on the roads. A sight for sore eyes indeed!A lot of pink ones that look like sakuras, wonder what trees those are. I had this really weird dream a week or two ago. I dreamt that I was at this place that was filled with sakuras, I have no idea where I was, no idea what was happening. I seem to be floating around a bit too. Very trippy dream, you know, like those zero gravity dreams, but I like it. A sakura dream and then a lot of sakura lookalikes here, is someone trying to tell me something?
"Please go make another trip to Japan already!"
it seems to be telling me. Hmm.. I must tell this to The Husband, who incidentally, was browsing the Japan photos last week, and he was telling me that he missed the place.
It really feels like spring, and that makes me wanna take off my shoes, walk in a park, dance on the grass and throw a huge Mad Hatter's tea party! Except that when I get out of the car, get reminded of the humidity level in Singapore and then I realise that I must be crazy to want to have a tea party at 3pm in a park in Singapore. Some more, the grass here not very nice to dance on....
Must be the hot hot afternoons and heavy downpours in the later part of the day. We seem to get downpours that last for hours now, with lightning and thunder and gusty winds! How strange for that to happen at this time of the year. Hot afternoons and some really cool evenings are very pleasant, especially cool cool evenings.
I hope the flowers will stay long enough for me to take some pictures! As you can see, the only one I have is the one I took in my car while we were driving.

Scale

My digital scale and it is bright red. Gloomy times call for colours like these to perk us up a little. No more guesstimating the amount of flour sugar and butter. My old kitchen scale is horribly inaccurate. Just when I thought I
had the flour at 250g, I pushed the bowl (or container) down gently on the scale and I get 270g. What the hell....... I will still keep the old scale for sentimental reasons. It has been with me for the longest time! What do you know? I am a hoarder! Actually, I most conveniently took it away from my mum when I moved into my own place. I think there must be more than a scale at her place then, if not, how my sisters bake now ha? Buy new scale is it? Ooops!
It is tough to use to for cakes, where you need to be more precise and that scale is anything but precise. Great if making just cookies, no need to be as accurate. Next week, I will attempt some fruit tarts or even a swiss roll. Gosh, I have never attempted another swiss roll in my life, ever since I cookie-fied my swiss roll when I was about 14. Instead of rolling, my roll cracked and it tasted like cookies. I love swiss rolls, jam rolls, jelly roulade whatever you go them, I love them! Yes, need to overcome my fear and get down to making one soon!
Baby Jared
He is the cutest thing. Actually, all month-old babies look alike to me, I can't really tell them apart. All a bit of the red red side (like machiam a bit raw like that). The photo is a little blur, since I was carrying him in my left arm and trying to take a photo at the same time with my right hand. Yah lah, I am a southpaw, that explains...Jared has some really, seriously, wild and funky hair, unless most babies, his hair stands up, all pointy and stiff. Not the usual baby soft hair most babies get. CUTE and his hair is jet black. Babies sleep through everything is it? The 2 hours we were at the celebration, he did not wake up at all. Passing from a person to another, that didn't faze him a teeny bit, just continued sleeping. I remembered when my sisters were babies and when I was bored I would start disturbing them to wake them up so that I could play with them! I am so sorry girls, if you are reading this, I didn't mean any harm, I was just bored and you two were so cute! Sometimes they would cry ( much to my delight ), most times they just went on sleeping
March is a busy month, with birthdays, a class gathering, a full month celebration and a wedding to attend. I will be glad for April to come soon.
Reminder to Self
With that, I will enjoy discounts on the baking classes that Elaine and I want to attend. Later maybe even dress making classes. Book badminton courts have discount some more!
Just over 10 dollars, quite cheap what.
