An Afternoon at the Park

I loved that one Sunday afternoon we spent at the park, lying down on the mat in the shade with a little breeze. It was a lovely day. Beats being in the mall on a Sunday!

Movies

We hadn't been watching a whole lot of movies lately, for the very obvious reason. ( A very loud live one at that) I do miss going to the movies. I miss so many that I want to watch. Why is it that there aren't a lot that I wanna watch when I was pregnant and the ones that I want to watch are showing after I give birth?

The very first movie that we watched after We had our baby is Alice in Wonderland. I kinda like it. Helena Bonham Carter is hilarious in it! I thought she was great! I have to thank my mum for watching her while we sneaked away for a few hours! Though it was quite a rushed outing, it was better than none at all. Of course we would like to take our time, have a nice dinner, coffee then movie, but we have a baby who wouldn't take to the bottle, plus, I really hate to impose on my mum. I suppose we can do that once she is older and a lot easier to manage.

I suppose we have to move movie night into our TV room for now. We just watched An Education. Funny that that was our first movie for our Movie Nights. I planned on watching it when I was still pregnant with The Little One and she chose pop out on that very day. Next DVD that I will get my hands on will be Avatar. It seems like the whole world had watched it except us. I can't believe I missed Moon either. So frustrating! Oh, then there is A Serious Man. A Single Man is still showing ( I think ), hoping to catch that on the big screen!

Brunch

Last Sunday brunch before The Little One came....

Yum Cha

Last tea session before The Little One came. I was thinking more of the English tea session, but a yum cha session is equally fun. The plan was to go for tea on my own on Thursday when I would be in Kinokuniya for the sale. BUT, The Little One decided to make arrived on Thurday too...

Day at the Spa

Happiness is a day spent at Spa Botanica with The Husband.

He knows rather well that I didn't want to spend or splurge that kinda money. I have been having aches here and there for a while now. Some days it can be pretty bad, some days, not too bad. Some nights, it is hard to fall asleep because of the aches. Some nights I get aches because I sleep on my side for too long, with the tummy putting a strain on the lower back.

This is his second time buying me a spa package to surprise me. The first time was just after we moved in and I had aches from moving and cleaning the whole house. He wasn't helping out a lot, so he might have felt some guilt! HAHAHAHAHAHA! No, I think he didn't like to see me in pain. It was just before the wedding too so it was a perfect present.
This time was special, because he went with me. We spent the entire day at the spa, me getting a massage, a pedicure and a facial. He even went for a hydro therapy himself! We swam, he used the gym, we had fun at the free form pool and we had a nice lunch. We topped it off with a dip in the jacuzzi. He had a go in a steam bath while I had my treatments. Time sure passed really fast when you are having a good time. We were there at 11am and left at 530pm! I fell asleep when I had my massage, I even fell asleep when I was getting my toes done. It was really that relaxing. Being so relaxed and calm, it was wonderful to feel The Little One kicked and moved during the treatments. That made the day even more special.

It was a really really good Sunday. I do feel very loved and blissfully contented.

The Past Weeks

had been hell.

I spent more than 2 weeks worrying about a test, not daring to call the doctor to ask about my test results. As much as we both know what we want and what we would do, it was still nerve wrecking. I did some series of tests some time ago, and the results revealed that I was at risk for a down syndrome baby. We didn't give it much thought prior to that, as we (or at least I) assume that I would be alright. I was shocked when the doctor told me I was high risk and suggested that I do the more invasive but conclusive test. The test included a really LONG needle and there was a risk of a miscarriage. I didn't know what to feel then.

On top of that, there was the maid problem that my mum was having, that caused me some anxiety too. Friends were confiding me with their own problems. So altogether, very stressful weeks. Everything just came at the same time.

I didn't cry, strangely. Maybe the thought hadn't really set in. I did finally caved in and cried that night. The whole thing seemed too scary.

I kept telling myself that this test that we did has a high percentage of false positives. I am still young(ish) and that I will be alright. I reminded myself that it was the blood test that didn't turn out so ideal, that having a low PAPPA doesn't just mean a chromosomal defect. And the ultrascan was very fine.

With a few weeks to think things through, I had done some thinking. I was leaving it all to fate. If it was meant to be, then it shall be. It is wasn't, then it is too bad for us. I still need to go on living. Life doesn't just stop when bad things happen. I still have so much going for me. I have a great and loving husband and that is what I ever asked for in this life. I have a a great family, though a little dysfunctional at times. Hahaha, most families are aren't they?

There are people who try not to be too happy with their pregnancies, for fear that something bad would happen. Letting go then, will be a lot harder. I went celebrating once we found out. I was just 5 weeks. The whole pregnancy is just 40 weeks, I sure didn't want to shortchange my own happiness. However I do understand why some people chose to not allow themselves to connect with the baby first, it really is tough letting go after some kind of connection and bonding.

Now I can breathe easy again. And we are expecting a girl!
